Capitalize was launched in 2016 by the Sacramento Kings as the NBA’s first crowdsourced startup competition. Over the years, Capitalize has rallied the Sacramento region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem around this annual pitch event and fan voting experience to support and promote more than 100+ local startups while showcasing new products and services on the NBA’s global stage. In 2023, the Kings expanded the Capitalize platform to include 2 exciting new programs.
Capitalize: Technology
Innovative early stage technology entrepreneurs from greater Sacramento region to compete for cash and in-kind prizes and featured at a Sacramento Kings game.
Capitalize: Food
Start-ups, culinary entrepreneurs and chefs from around the region will compete to demonstrate their creativity, skills, and unique culinary perspective.
NEW: Capitalize: Innovation
The Capitalize Innovation Challenge is a 6 month program designed to crowdsource game changing solutions from entrepreneurs around the world with the goal of advancing key strategic priorities identified by the Kings. Select startups will be chosen to participate.
